FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

design Group FAQ:

1. What services does the design Group provide? The EuroTeam design Group provides building design and related services, including architectural design, interior design, structural design, landscape design and mechanical design. All of these services are provided either by the EuroTeam design Group staff or by outside consultants.

In addition to these design services, we can provide presentation drawings of design proposals, drawings for review and approval by local authorities, and plans and specifications for obtaining cost estimates and for construction.

Also available are three dimensional models and computer generated video ‘walk-through's of designs and computer presentations.

2. Do you only work on new buildings? No, the design Group also does work related to additions and the renovation and restoration of existing buildings.

3. What is the cost of these services? All of our services are provided without a fee. We do, however, require that two of our staff travel to see all new projects to determine if we can take on the project and we ask that the ministry requesting our assistance cover the cost of the travel and food and lodging.

We also ask that the ministry pay for our expenses related to the project, such as telephone calls, photocopies, materials, and any further trips to the project location if required.

4. Does EuroTeam provide or raise funds for building projects? No, we are not able to provide funds or take on the fund raising for projects. The EuroTeam ministry is a faith-based organization, meaning that none of our staff receive a salary and all depend on the contributions of others for their living expenses.

The design Group can, however, prepare materials that can be used to raise funds for building projects such as drawings showing the project, models, and other forms of presentation.

5. How do I start the process of getting help from the design Group? Start by contacting the design Group staff and requesting an application for our services. Once this is completed and returned, you will be contacted by one of our staff to discuss the project and to arrange for the investigative trip to look at the project site. After this trip is made, the design Group staff discuss the project and decide if they can help.

6. What costs are involved? The only costs that you are responsible for are the cost of the investigative trip (two members of the EuroTeam staff will come to look at the project and discuss it in detail withy you) and any expenses, as described in number three above.

While we would like to be able to provide all of our services at no cost, we do not have the funds available to do this. Also, the costs we ask the ministry to pay are very small in comparison to the total cost of the materials and labor required to build the project.

7. Do you work with local architects and engineers? Yes, we work with local architects and engineers whenever there is the need and the opportunity. In some cases, we must have a local registered architect or engineer certify the plans of the project and obtain the building permit.

We have a network of architects and engineers worldwide that we can call on as consultants to help us and that we encourage to use their skills for the Lord's service.

8. Do you only work on projects that EuroTeam will build? No, we do not require that you use the EuroTeam Services Group to build the projects we design.

9. Can you supervise the construction? We cannot be at the project site during the whole duration of the construction, but we can visit the project site when needed. The cost of this must be covered by the ministry we are helping.

Sevice Group FAQ:

1. What is the SMG? The Service Ministries Group is the part of EuroTeam that deals with using your hands and skills and abilities to serve the Body of Christ in Helps, Encouragement, and practical ministries. Although it is not active evangelism, it strives to build the Body of Christ in tangible ways. Some water, others harvest. The SMG waters and nurtures what others have planted, so that still others can reap.

2. What are some of the things that the SMG does? You can divide the SMG into three categories: Construction (new building, remodeling, facility improvements), onCall (risk assessment, disaster response, contingency planning) and Treff (conference facilitating).

3.Who can go on a SMG project? Do I have to be a real construction worker? A: although skills in the construction trades is always a plus on a team, what we are really looking for are willing hands and servant's attitudes.

4. Do we get to do any “real” mission work? Each of the projects that we do within the SMG have been chosen by the local ministries, to advance their work. Although we may not be preaching, translating the Bible or sharing the Four Spiritual Laws, all the things that we do on the project are done to promote the Gospel of Christ. According to I Corinthians 12, the Body is made up of many parts. We are not all Apostles, or Preachers, but we all have a part in the Great Commission. We in the SMG are excited that we can put believers in situations, where they can use the skills and gifts God has given them to serve Him. Bottom line: service is missions, and missions is serving God.

5. How old does one have to be to serve on a SMG project? We prefer that each team member be at least 18, but deal with exceptions on a case-to-case basis. There is no maximum age. But in all cases, please remember that these are construction projects, often involving power tools, and full days of manual labor. We do ask that all team members be in good health, capable and willing to work hard.

6. How long are your projects? We prefer 2-week (14 day) trips. First of all, the major expense on a trip like this is the airfare. It doesn't make sense to fly over here ( Europe ) for a short period of time. Second, jet lag can wipe a person out for the first week. We would hate to see someone spend their whole time adjusting to the changes, and not get to appreciate with a clear head what they are experiencing. Lastly, we feel that to get all we hope to accomplish done, we need more that 10 days. Not only “project”, be it pouring a cement slap, painting a sanctuary, or what ever, but also the things that God does in someone's life. And more than 2 weeks can be too tiring (besides the difficulty people have getting away for such a long time).

7. I have never done anything like this. How do I get started; what do I do to bring a team over? EuroTeam has resources to walk someone through the process of getting them self, or a team, over on a project. Contact us and we'll get you started down the road to a life-changing experience in Europe serving the Lord.

8. How much does it cost? What does that cover? Most of our projects cost $945/person, for a 2-week project. The project fees cover food, lodging, local ground transportation for the duration of the project, overhead, emergency medical insurance and a portion of the cost of materials needed for the project. This does not cover your transportation to and from the local pick up site (usually the closest airport), nor your tourist fees (museum entry, entry visa, t-shirts you may choose to buy, post cards, etc…).

10. What if I don't want to bring a whole team, but join an existing one? Contact the EuroTeam Coordinator for opportunities in the coming months to join a team that is looking for more servants.

11. Are all the team members believers on your projects? We leave the selection of team members up to the Team Leader. Obviously, we are geared towards leading a team filled with evangelical Christians. If non-Christian chooses to come along (which does happen), they will be expected to participate in all of the ET programming (devotions, Sunday worship service).

12. I can't be there the whole time; can I arrive late/leave early? We strongly discourage team members leaving or arriving at different times. We have geared the EuroTeam experience for the whole group, and we find that having team members arrive late or depart early is very disruptive, not only for the team member, but for the whole team. Does that mean that they cannot do it? No, only that we would rather they didn't.

13. What do I wear, what do I pack, what tools will we need? Once accepted on a project, you will receive a Team Member's Manual, which should answer all your questions. And the ET Coordinator is available, via e-mail, to answer your questions.

14. Where do I send my money, and is it tax deductible? All monies are sent to the Greater Europe Mission headquarters in the USA or Canada , according to the donor. And yes, you can receive a tax deduction for charitable giving.

FAQ on one2one

1. What is one2one ? The one2one ministry uses relational evangelism to break through barriers and to model and share the Christian Faith. EuroTeam's (ET) focus is to help special-needs youth gain self-esteem and confidence, and to introduce them to the life-giver, Jesus Christ; ET will also provide the necessary follow-up to help them grow and live a dynamic Christian Life (Eph. 6:19).

Through service projects, such as 12-day construction projects or TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) camps, ET has connected Belarusian young people with North American (NA) and European Christians. Through painting, landscaping, renovating, and doing chores together, as well as through language study, strong relational bonds are forged. These bonds win the serving believers the right to share their lives, and in particular, their relationship with Jesus Christ.

The design of one2one is a service/relational evangelism program. The project consists of daily devotions led by the NA church team or ET staff, work at the site or in language classes, the sharing of life stories, nightly activities, two (2) “fun” days of sightseeing, and two (2) worship service days. During nightly “free time” many discussions take place as NA church team members, ET staff, and special-needs youth play games together over coffee and snacks. Towards the end of the time together the Jesus Film is shown and discussed. These combined activities open up many discussions about faith.

2. Do I have to be a teacher for the TEFL one2one ? No. The program is designed for anyone to be able to run it. It has detailed instructions on how to set up the program as well as the lessons, crafts, games, and supplies needed. Teaching experience is helpful but not necessary.

4. Are there materials available? Yes. Teacher and student manuals, instruction on how to teach, templates for required lesson visuals and crafts, are provided for the TEFL one2one . Supplies for the Construction one2one are mostly funded by the site and ET usually has the ability to bring tools required for the project.

5. How long does the program run? The entire program runs for twelve (12) to fourteen (14) days. Construction one2one : Days consist of six (6) hours of work, meals and snacks, scheduled activities, and free time. Two (2) sightseeing days, two (2) worship services, the Jesus Film and discussion are also part of the program. TEFL one2one : Days consist of four hours of classes, ½ group time of testimonies, singing, and a shared message related to the daily memory verse. There are afternoon activities and evenings of games and fun. At the end of the time a graduation is held.

6. How many people are required on a team? The NA team size for a Construction one2one should be fifteen (15) to twenty (20), and six (6) for a TEFL one2one .

7. What is the cost involved? The cost per person for North America team members starts at $945 USD. This includes room and board, travel insurance, and a portion of the total project cost. It does not include transportation to and from Europe .

The current cost to sponsor one (1) Belarusian youth is approximately $1250 USD. This amount includes, a irfare to and from Belarus , insurance, required visa, l ocal travel expense (to and from airport, sightseeing days), activities (sightseeing day spending money, sightseeing day entrance fees, snacks/Café, gifts/prizes), room and board, Thank You Dinner, project fees, and ET administrative overhead.
