Winter Olympics
Torino, Italy

Enthusiastic Fans at a Speedskating Event

The time in Torino was super! We did a combination of street evangelism and concerts and saw very little of the Olympics... We combined efforts with a team from The Rock Church in Salt Lake City, Utah, a EuroTeam team and Il Rifugio (The Refuge) Church of Torino ( a church plant with Great Commission Ministries). The team from The Rock Church brought a very professional band to give free concerts at the church during the Olympics. This gave us more opportunities to interact with people and share the Gospel.

We did happen to go one day to see speedskater Clay Mull compete with Team USA... He also came and gave his testimony during one of our concerts.

The streets were full of people to hand out tracts, share the Good News and invite people to our concerts with tickets the Salt Lake City team had made. At the concerts we also translated the words to the songs into Italian for the locals.

All nations were truly represented during the Olympics. There were many English speakers for our team to interact with. Some would trade Olympic pins, others would be gathered around the Today Show stage and still others would come listen as we did some smaller concerts in the town squares during the day.


All Nations Came to the Winter Olympics

It was amazing to see how God bonded our very large team that had members from many different backgrounds. We had daily times of prayer and time in God's Word as we would prepare to go out into the streets. Pray for the continued work of Il Rifugio Church in Torino as they reach out to local people through their ministry.
